せんしゅうのしゅうまつはとてもいそがしいでした。金曜日にボストンへいきました。ボストンでともだちとあいました。ひるごはんにいっしょにおいしいレストランへいきました。わたしはコーヒーとパスタをたのみました。とてもおいしいかったです。ひるごはんのあとかいものをいくつもりでしたが、とてもねむくなったのでいえにかいりました。土曜日と日曜びにボストンで一時から八時までずっとあるきました。おもしろかったですが、つかれました。

これはわたしのスケジュールです げつようびからきんようびまで、わたしはくじにおきます。それから、あるいてだいがくへいきます。ごぜんじゅうじじゅうぷんからこぜんじゅういちじにじゅうごふんまで にほんごのじぎょうをあります。それから、ドージでうんどうをします。じゅうにじに ひるごはんをたべます。ごごいちじからはちじまでわたしはとしょかんで べんきょうします。まいばんじゅういちじはんにねいます。 どようびとにちようびにだいがくをやすみです。どこへもいきません。やすみます。

I chose to study Japanese because half of my family is from Japan. However growing up in Singapore, for the majority of my life I have not had any formal Japanese education. Therefore whenever I would go back to Japan, the communication between myself and my grandparents would be very limited. Additionally I visit Japan every year but due to my inability to speak fluently and to read or write at even a basic level, I find it very hard to get around by myself and to explore the depths of Japanese culture. Therefore when I came to Columbia, I decided that access to a world class education it would be best to make the best use of my resources. So in addition to my other interests, I took up Japanese. I'm most excited about being able to have more meaningful conversations with my grandparents and other Japanese family members. Also, with a stronger foundation I will be able to explore aspects of Japanese culture that interest me without relying on my parents. I can't wait to go t...
